FUEL CELLS AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY

Fuel Cells In The Automobile Industry

The best pollution-free alternative to batteries while still using clean electric motors is the hydrogen fuel cell. Hydrogen-powered fuel cells hold enormous promise as a power source for a future generation of cars (Zygmont 0).

Three groups, General Motors, Toyota and the Daimler-Chrysler consortium in cooperation with Ford, which together produce nearly 40 % of all automobiles worldwide, have already invested billions of dollars in research and development on fuel cell powered vehicles.

And as recently as 17.01.00, a manufacturer in collaboration with a local university has developed a hydrogen fuel cell car in Shanghai. The car is able to travel up to 110km/h. Pretty impressive!

The industry expects that hydrogen fuel cells are perfect alternative to gasoline. Automotive manufacturers expect that, by 015, fuel cells will be able to cover a market segment corresponding to that of the diesel engine today.

FUEL CELLS PROS/CONS

Advantages

Hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered cars are the best alternatives to polluting, gasoline-powered cars for several reasons

The cars are completely emission free, which means zero pollution.

Hydrogen, the fuel, is abundant and inexhaustible.

Cells are compact and lightweight, an important factor for efficient cars.

About times as efficient as combustion engines.

It is safe & it dissipates quickly if it leaks

Problems facing large scale implementation

Storage Current gasoline-powered cars have capacity to store fuel for up to 00miles on road. Manufacturers will have to discover ways to store amounts of hydrogen needed for high mileages. Researching has been done on the possibility of using carbon-adsorption systems. These are refrigerated and pressurized tanks that can store massive amounts of hydrogen.

Cost While the cost of fuel cell stacks has decreased tenfold in just three years, the price is still too high to gain commercial support for use in vehicles, homes and businesses. Fuel cells require precious metals for catalysts and expensive polymer membranes.

Infrastructure This poses the biggest challenge for fuel cell commercialisation. While companies are able to produce fuel cell cars, they might not be able to provide the necessary infrastructure needed for re-fuelling cars alone. Much support from governments is needed for building adequate infrastructures for fuel cell commercialisation to realise.

In Summary

From our point of view, the huge impact of the renaissance of the fuel cell technology on our lives is definite. Fuel cells are most likely the power source of the future. They are clean, efficient ways of producing electricity. Its going to be hugely popular with the increasingly health conscious people in the world.

POWER IN THE DISTANT FUTURE

Fusion

This is a clean energy source that may influence our lives in the distant future. This energy is basically created by the conversion of matter into energy. This occurs when hydrogen atoms are heated to very high temperatures forming a special gas called plasma. In this plasma, hydrogen atoms combine, or fuse, to form a heavier atom, helium. In the process of fusing, some of the hydrogen involved is converted directly into large amounts of energy.

Fusion energy could complement renewable energy technologies that may not have the capacity to power large cities and industries in the future. Fusion fuels, for example hydrogen, are abundant and readily available. Using fusion energy to generate electricity will not contribute to global warming or air pollution, as it does not produce any greenhouse gases. Currently, fusion research is expensive but the prospects of developing usable fusion energy are realistic and the potential of cleaner, inexhaustible power is too great to avoid.

Matter - Antimatter Energy Generation

This method, involves the collision of matter and antimatter molecules, releasing amounts of energy many orders greater than nuclear fission. For example, 1 gram of antimatter produces energy equivalent to 0.015 Megatons of TNT ( x 101 Joules). Clearly the main problem is - where do we get the antimatter?

There exist many theories, involving symmetry in the universe, and the existence of antimatter stars which are an opposite of our sun. Plasma Cosmology is a branch of science which attempts to explain this symmetry. An interesting recent discovery is that comets are in fact made up of antimatter. Could this be a new source of fuel for us?

Cold Fusion

The central claim of cold fusion adherents is that a nuclear reaction (fusion of deuterium) can be initiated and maintained in an electrochemical apparatus not much different from the setup used in a high school chemistry lab. The claim first appeared in the press in March of 18, and provoked considerable public and scientific interest. It was put forward by respectable scientists (Fleishmann and Pons of the University of Utah) and was supported by reports from other respectable scientists that they had been able to replicate those findings. These initial claims, however, were soon met by counterclaims from equally respectable labs and investigators, to the effect that the initial findings could not be replicated. But decades from now, who knows?

Large-Scale Solar

It is not difficult to predict the gradual increase in satellites orbiting the Earth. Futurologists have predicted a future where massive solar panels are attached to geosynchronous satellites. Satellites launched into orbit would have the secondary (or even primary) task of collecting the suns radiation, and beaming it back to Earth. The current view is that this transfer be done via microwaves. There are some problems with this, of course. Microwaves may adversely affect health, and there is some uncertainty whether frequent launches may harm the upper atmosphere. However, most people agree that this would not become feasible at least until the latter half of this century.

OTHER ENERGY ISSUES

Change in Consumption Patterns

The trend will be for increasing energy usage, because development is expected to keep going in undeveloped parts of the world. Developing countries energy usage will greatly exceed those of developed countries, giving global energy a continuous rise in the foreseeable future. This makes it even more important to realize the significance of clean energy in sustainable development plans of any nation.

Change in Distribution Patterns

There is some idea of decentralized generation, where power generation by many small stations becomes efficient. For example, the city of Chicago is building a distributed source of electricity by amassing the capabilities of the emergency backup generators located at city facilities intended to be complete by 010. Together, these generators will be equivalent to one 10-megawatt power plant.

There have also been ideas of a Global Power Grid, where power is bought, sold and exchanged based on demand. This can increase specialization of power generation in countries where power generation has lower costs. In Europe especially, inter-country networks allow certain countries to be net exporters (and vice versa for others) of energy. However, there are many technological barriers, including incompatibilities of national grids and the difficulty of cross-continental connections. But, there is still much that can be done before the end of the century.

next

CONCLUSION

The path for growth in the power industry is set. It will be motivated by environmental issues, the need for increasingly large amounts of power & increased urbanization throughout the world. Fuels will become cleaner, generation more efficient. In this case, it is clear that… the future is a gas!

I am tired of hearing, "Miss can I go to CM?" At the school I attend CM, short for Content Mastery, is a program we have for certain students who are labeled as having a learning disability, and really there is nothing wrong with them except laziness. The worst part is after they get back I have to hear about how easy it is and that they give them all the answers. I sometimes catch myself sitting there thinking, I wish I could act stupid, go fail a simple test on purpose, get in, and have access to all the answers. It cannot be that hard if they can do it. I believe that CM should not be available in high school.

Even though some people believe that CM helps kids, they do not understand that CM tends to cause more damage that good. First, a person must understand that at least ninety percent of the students who go to CM do not need it. I have a friend who has even told me he just goes there so he can get the answers to his homework, or even tests. Now tell me how is this going to help a student in the future, or how about I say, it will not. Students who go to CM are just learning that if the work seems hard then I will just get someone to tell me the answers. In the real world that is impossible, no one will be there to hold his or her hands and say, "Okay, this might be a little hard for you, let me do it." That is unheard of in real life. All that kind of treatment will lead to is a lazier group of adults in the future, and that is the last thing the world needs.

Now, think about all the other students that this kind of treatment is putting at a disadvantage. All it teaches other students is that if you act stupid and lazy things get handed over without effort. All my friends that are not in CM agree they would probably do it to if they were not worried about their grades and going to college. Basically, CM students are just shooting themselves in the foot since they are not being prepared for college. They get left with one choice, the workforce, and if that is true then why not just enroll them in a work program and they will not have to come to school. Do not forget about the students who might really need it, but stay out because they know it is better for them in the long run. They tuff it out, and that student suffers because even though he wanted to go to college he cannot because he got beat out of the top twenty percent by the CM student. I think I might know what it feels like, because it happened to my sister. So now instead of going to college like she had planned and hoped for, she must now join the workforce. It all happened just because of the CM student getting free answers.

Even if a CM student tries to go to college, then what will he do, colleges do not offer CM, and no one will be there to hold his hands and give him answers. In college no one cares if a student does their work or even goes to class. Once the college has your money they probably do not care what that student does. Plus, if the student even wants to work and try to pass they must teach themselves, because I know that they did not care if they learned it in CM. I remember, awhile back, one of my friend's brothers had the chance to play college baseball, but he could not make the grades because instead of learning in high school he got into CM and never tried or learned again. He lost his scholarship and his chance at playing the sport he loved and getting an education. I do not know what he is doing now, but the last time I talked to him he said that he really regretted not trying in high school.

Purchase your paper on CM, Does it Help

CM, or Content Mastery, should not be available in high school. As I have shown it clearly just causes more problems that it could ever help. Students do not try and get lazy. They put other students at disadvantage, and cause problems of their own in the future. The problem is that the power to eliminate the program lies with people who probably do not even see the problem.

Grangers

In 1867 Oliver H. Kelley founded the "The Order of the Patrons of Husbandry",

the national grange. The group was originally established for social and educational

purposes. Yet it expanded as the local granges became political forums and increased in

number as channels of farmer protest against economic abuses of the day. The granges

sought to correct these abuses through cooperative enterprise. Oliver H. Kelley, an

avowed "book farmer", advocated experimentation, advanced methods, and increased

communication among farmers. After viewing first hand, the wretched conditions in the

post Civil War south, Kelley founded this group of whom headquarters was his home for

its first years.

The grangers associated themselves with the Populist Party, whom adopted a

platform calling for an abundance of different reforms. Some of which included the free

coinage of silver, abolition of national banks, a sub treasury scheme or some similar

system, a graduated income tax, plenty of paper money, government ownership of all

forms of transportation and communication, election of Senators by direct vote of the

people, non ownership of land by foreigners, civil service reform, a working day of eight

hours, postal banks, pensions, revision of the law of contracts, and reform of immigration

regulations.

The grangers also fought to eliminate trusts, as there was very just cause in this

battle. They were in part successful with the establishment of stores, grain elevators, and

mills, but they met disaster in their attempt to manufacture farm machinery. New

innovations allowed for this group's members to embark upon financial ventures they

previously would not have been able to make. They opened a series of cooperative stores

which helped to dissemble what was the norm at the time, the monopoly.

The grangers wanted the government to regulate major projects, such as railroad,

yet have less control of finances. They wanted the government to discontinue the idea of

a national bank. They also pushed for free coinage of silver and an excess of paper

money. All of these ideas and principles were all part of the ultimate goal to eliminate

trusts.

The grangers were a unique group that brought a new way of thinking towards

agriculture and government. There is still an active granger or "Order of the Patrons of

Husbandry" today, which only goes to prove that the ideas of the group were not ignored.

By the end of the First World War, Germany was in ruin. Her economy was crippled by the burden of having to pay reparations for the war and her pride in tatters after the surrender of territory and substantial reduction in armed forces brought about by the harsh Treaty of Versailles. The Weimar Republic put in place after the end of WWI was vulnerable to political attack and Hitler and the Nazi party exploited this by attaining the Enabling Act; it was not long before Hitler established himself as dictator of Germany. The German people had been looking for a man to take control of the situation and Hitler, seemingly, had answered their call but did his Nazi regime give the people of Germany what they wanted?

Hitler's first aim was to bring Germany out of economic decline and set it back on the road to become a major world power once again. The constant flow of money out of Germany had to be stopped reparation payments were cancelled and foreign companies that were owed money had to take it in goods or credit. This, along with rearmament, Compulsory Labour Service for everyone between 18 and 5 and universal military service boosted industry and eradicated unemployment.

This obviously gave the workers of Germany the job stability that they desired. In 1 6 million people were out of work and Hitler's policies managed to gain full employment by 17. Coupled with this dramatic rise in employment, wages also rose the skilled labour force enjoyed a slight rise in their standard of living, white collar employees benefited from regular salary rises and dividends paid to investors climbed.

Cheap writing services for The regime, after all, gave most Germans what they wantedHow justified is this view of NAzi rule in Germnay between 1933-39? papers

Further policies were put in place to keep the workers content; medical services were improved, longer holidays with pay were created and a focus on leisure time was introduced by the "Strength Through Joy programme". These all certainly satisfied the wants of the workers but they had to endure reforms which were not so beneficiary such as the replacement of Trade Unions by a Labour Front to which membership was compulsory, the criminalisation of strikes and an increase in working day length.

Demonstrations of the advancement of Germany impressed the people and reinforced their adoration of Hitler. Immense 'Autobahnen' or motorways were built all across Germany and the Volkswagen (People's car) was promised. Welfare services improved, particularly through the Winter Help organisation which raised hundreds of millions of marks for the distressed.

The Nazis believed that individual people did not matter. What was important, they believed, was a strong central government. Individuals were forced to accept the roles given to them in society - women should be educated to become housewives and mothers, men should be educated to become workers and soldiers. This reduced freedom under the regime as people were taught to do what they were told for the good of Germany. Under normal circumstances people would rebel against this loss of freedom but they had been brainwashed through propaganda to despise the 'freedom' experienced before the Nazi regime and that which was present in other countries around the world.

The lives of German women underwent the most radical change. They were stripped of jobs within the Nazi party or in the courts and were pressured into staying in the home, looking after their husbands and bearing children. It was Hitler's policy to "strangle higher education for women"- the syllabus was changed so that girls mainly took domestic subjects and attaining further education was nigh on impossible. The Nazi slogan 'Kinder, Kirche, Kuche' (children, church, kitchen) epitomises what was expected of every German woman. Women who had no children were looked down upon and classed as deserters- traitors to the cause, conversely women who had many children were praised and given various awards as recognition of their service to Germany. A married couple were not seen as a family by the State until they had four children.

The Nazis realised that control of the emerging generation was essential to the success of their regime. By 1 all children had to join Nazi youth organisations, they were indoctrinated at the age of five and had to stay on until reaching eighteen. By this time they had taken oaths and been bathed in so much pro-nazi propaganda that they were all absolutely dedicated to Hitler- ready to die for him. The children also took part in 'fun' activities such as camping and sports but also had to listen to numerous lectures regarding the finer points of National Socialism.

Most Germans seemed to have accepted Hitler's ideals but for those who refused, life could be unpleasant. All other political parties were banned and leaders of such partiers were placed in concentration camps and the Gestapo was set up which was used to spy on people at all times. Any sign of complaint could lead to arrest and 're-education' or complete disappearance. The Nazis controlled all books and newspapers, films and radio programmes. Any writers, painters or composers that the Nazis disapproved of were banned. Hitler realised that by controlling what people read, looked at and listened to, he could control people's ideas.

Every dictatorial system requires a scapegoat to attain full backing and the main one used by the Nazis was the Jewish race in its` entirety. Hitler blamed the Jews for everything that had gone wrong in Germany, including the loss of WWI, and portrayed them as scheming and villainous and likened them to rats. At first Jews were banned from some professions medicine, dentistry, the civil service fro example. They also found that their shops were occasionally boycotted. Then in 15 the Nuremberg Laws were announced these made Jews second-class citizens and prevented them from marrying non-Jews. They also lost the right to vote and had to use separate seats in buses and parks which were painted yellow. In 18, in what was known as the Crystal Night, Jewish synagogues shops and houses all over Germany were attacked. It took place after a Jew was accused of murdering a German. From then on Jews were forced out of Germany and after the war broke out, put in ghettos and concentration camps.

Concluding, it would be hard to argue whether or not people were generally satisfied with their role in society as nobody dared speak up for fear of the Gestapo. Hitler exploited basic human weaknesses; he told the Germans they were better than everyone else, truly made them believe it and it was this restoration in German pride which gave him power over the German people. The regime probably did give most Germans (with the obvious exception of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and other minorities) what they wanted. However, this was only because the Nazi party first taught people what they wanted before giving them it.

A Brief Biography of Bret Harte

Francis Bret Harte was born in Albany New York on August 5, 18. In 1854, his mother, a widow, moved him to California. In California Harte worked as a miner, school teacher, express messenger, printer, and journalist. While in San Francisco writing for The Californian he worked with Mark Twain, Charles Warren Stoddard, Prentice Mulford and the editor, Henry Webb. He contributed many poems and prose pieces to the paper. Bret Harte was appointed Secretary of the United States Branch Mint at San Francisco. He held that office until 1870.

Harte became the first editor of the Overland Monthly. The Luck of Roaring Camp published in the Overland Monthly brought him instant and wide fame. He was thereafter requested to contribute poems and articles to a number of publications. His stories of the American West were much in demand in the eastern United States. In 1871 he moved to New York. He later moved to Boston. Harte continued to write poetry and prose, and enjoyed wide popularity.

In 1878 Bret Harte was appointed United States Consul at Crefeld, Germany. Harte was transferred to Glasgow, Scotland in 1880. Thereafter he resided in London.

He died in Camberely, England on May 6, 10 from throat cancer.

Historic Event in the 1800's that Influenced Bret Harte

Harte's works were all somehow influenced by the California Gold Rush of 184. His interest in Western literature and his success of transforming his writings into popular fiction led many writers to explore American West themes. Most of his stories focus on characters the he thought were worthy of treatment for their own sake and his plots were very artificial. His plots were sentimental which made it appealing top young readers, but it took time before he became popular amongst adults.

Analysis of "The Outcasts of Poker Flat"

The short story "The Outcasts of Poker Flat" tells the fortunes of four "outcasts" from the California gold camp of Poker Flat, who have been escorted to the city limits by a vigilance committee and told never to return at the risk of their lives. The four outcasts are Mr. John Oakhurst, a professional gambler, "the Duchess" and "Mother Shipton," two prostitutes; and "Uncle Billy," a drunkard, suspected as well of the more serious crime of robbing sluices. The four outcasts hope to find shelter in the neighboring settlement of Sandy Bar, a long day's journey away over a steep mountain range; but at noon, the weary Duchess calls a stop to the journey, saying she will "go no further." They go into camp, despite Mr. Oakhurst's pointing out that they have neither equipment nor provisions. The only thing they have is liquor which makes them forget the rest of the journey to Sandy Bar. Oakhurst does not drink, but out of a feeling of loyalty stays with his companions. Sometime later during the afternoon, the 4 outcasts are joined by refugees from Sandy Bar, Tom Simson and his fianc e, Piney Woods. They have with them, extra provisions. They have escaped from Sandy Bar because of the objections of Piney's father to their marriage and are planning to get married in Poker Flat. It becomes evident that Simson, referred throughout the story as the "Innocent," had once lost to Oakhurst his "entire fortune- amounting to some forty dollars"- and that after the game was over Oakhurst had taken the young man aside and given him his money back, saying simply "you're a good little man, but you can't gamble worth a cent. Don't try it over again." Since it is now too later to travel on, the outcasts and the young lovers decide to camp in a ruined house near the trail. During the night Uncle Billy abandons the group, taking all the animals with him. It also begins to snow. The party is snowed in, but the situation isn't too bad considering they have enough food for 10 days. They all begin to make the cabin livable and spend the first few days listening to the accordion the Innocent plays, and to the Iliad which he has recently read. The situation deteriorates. Another snowstorm isolates the camp, although they are able to see far below them the smoke of Poker Flat. On the tenth day, Mother Shipton, "once the strongest of the party," which had mysteriously been growing weaker, dies. She starved herself to death to save the lives of the young ones. She had saved her portions and wrapped them up in a bundle. Mr. Oakhurst then makes a pair of snowshoes out of a pack saddles and gives them to the Innocent, whom he sends off to Poker Flat in a last attempt to bring aid. If the Innocent reaches Poker Flat within two days, all will be well. He follows the Innocent part way on his journey toward Poker Flat, but does not return. Back at the camp the situation goes from bad to worse. Only the Duchess and Piney are left, and although they discover and are grateful for the pile of wood Mr. Oakhurst has secretly left for them, they are not able to start a fire. They die of starvation in the snow and are found by a rescue party too late. Oakhurst commits suicide at the end of the story. The story ends with a rehearsal of his life, written by himself on a deuce of clubs and pinned to a pine tree with a bowie knife "Beneath this tree lies the body of John Oakhurst, who struck a streak of bad luck on the rd on November 1850, and handed in his checks on the 7th of December, 1850."

A group of outcasts is sent up a long day's journey to another place. They stop only halfway; that is half a day's journey there. The place they left is clearly visible behind them. They start off with four people in total and two join them later. When Uncle Billy escapes, only five remain. It is never clarified what Uncle Billy could have possibly wanted by stealing the animals, considering he had no food for them or himself, nor is an explanation of how he managed to escape from right under their noses, when earlier in the story it was mentioned that Mr. Oakhurst was a light sleeper. When Uncle Billy leaves the group, they discover that they have sufficient food for ten days. Mother Shipton eats none of hers, dying at the end of the week. With Mr. Oakhurst about to commit suicide, it leaves enough food for the remaining two survivors to survive until the rescue party arrives. Since Harte is known for creating sentimental plots, he lets his story end a very tragic and nostalgic way. Perhaps Harte's mistake is that in his persistent search for California gold, he did not know where to find it. He never was able to strike it rich, and throughout his life applied this concept of the same tragic ending to all his literary works.

They are the fastest way of transport in town. Not your conventional method of getting around but, hey, you arrive at your destination nevertheless, maybe with a few odd bruises here and there and feeling somewhat dazed after the ride.

They are the so-called "black taxis", which have now become the principal means of transport for the vast majority of black South Africans. It is unlikely that you will find yourself using one unless you are incredibly desperate – like I was.

I was in desperate need of a form of transport to Wynberg one day and I was beginning to think that I had to get there by foot, when from a distance I heard those notorious words, "Wyndy, Wyndy, Wynberg!" and the roars of what sounded like a formula one engine racing towards me. Now with your normal, conventional taxis you would step into the street and shout, "Taxi!" but in this country that would not be a wise idea because chances are you would be run down. Instead, you just wait for the taxi to stop and call you. Sure enough, the tyres came to a screeching halt right there in the middle of the road. Normally this would be OK when traffic were not that bad, but on that day traffic was horrendous as it was rush hour. The taxi just literally parked there in the middle of the road, totally disregarding the traffic around it as if it owned the entire road, bringing several cars to a sudden unexpected halt behind it. The man in the car behind the taxi started to contribute to the already unbearable noise pollution of everyday rush-hour traffic by pounding his hooter in absolute fury and screaming such obscene comments at the top of his lungs at the taxi driver.

A face poked out of the window of the taxi and a hand motioned me to get into the vehicle. At first I was reluctant but this taxi was my only alternative to walking. These taxis are not your ordinary taxis, which most people are accustomed to. Oh no! These "black taxis" are those Japanese minibuses (which we commonly call "kombies") which are usually white in colour, or any colour other than black, licensed to carry fifteen people – or so they say. This taxi had already at least seventeen people, possibly twenty-plus jam-packed into this fifteen-seater. I glanced to my right at the man who was still pounding his hooter, his face red with rage and he looked as if he was about to kill someone. Then I looked at the interior of this overcrowded vehicle, thought to myself, "I must be mad" and climbed in.

Write a research paper on Kings of the road

The ride was quite an experience. I never knew exactly how fast these minibuses could go, especially with the tremendous load it was carrying, but I soon came to realise its true speed when the vehicle came across a robot that was about to turn red and the driver suddenly stamped down on the accelerator and stormed through it. We were like kings of the road, cutting across lanes, overtaking cars at random, stopping and picking up people as we pleased and inevitably obstructing traffic in doing so and violating most road rules (if they even exist in South Africa). But it is a totally different story when you are one of the passengers sitting inside one of these taxis. You don't actually give a hoot about all the other traffic around you. All the hooting and swearing of people in their cars behind you seem to go through one ear and come out the other and drift into oblivion. You just don't seem to care so long as you get to your destination in one piece, and that is exactly the attitude of these taxi drivers. Their primary objective is to get people to their desired destinations, and in doing so, earn a living and they don't care how they go about doing it.

Being in one of those taxis made me feel differently about them the next time I saw which was when I was stuck behind one of them whilst they were picking people up. I used to hate it when that happened but now I can truly say that I understand.

Topic Discuss ideas regarding robust australopithecine diet. What do you think robust australopithecines ate? Why? Be specific and name three morphological correlates of their probable diet.

As we explain the diet of the Robust australopithecine, we must explain some of morphological functions that enabled them to eat what they could. We will examine the functional complex of the teeth, jaw, and cranium which all come together to serve a purpose in eating. The robust australopithecines have taken this certain adaptation to an extreme scale, having enormous, flat molars and relatively small blade-like incisors and canines. Due to the huge premolars and molars we can see that their robust form contain big grinding teeth which could be seen as the mortar and pestle analogy. Their teeth, shown by evidence seemed to have more grinding than an apes diet. The robust species seemed to have a vegetarian diet. Also concluded, robust consume tough foods due to the size of their teeth. Their tooth row is conveniently tucked under the face more than apes which gives a less protruding face and greater chewing efficiency. Finally, being consistent with evidence, robust australopithecines lived in drier habitats where fruits and leaves were more common.

Two other morphological adaptations that were essential to the diet of robust australopithecines were the jaw and cranium. The robusticity of the lower jaw reflected powerful chewing action. There are two important muscles that are essential to these powerful chewing forces as well as a cranial adaptation. First being the temporalis muscle, the muscle that powers the lower jaw (contracting or constricting) is housed by a raised bony crest that runs along the top of the cranium, which is called the sagittal crest. The more prominent the sagittal crest, the stronger the chewing forces are. In addition to the temporal muscle, a second chewing muscle called the masseter muscle, causes the cheekbones to be exaggerated and flared forward. The greater the flare the greater the chewing forces. The flare shows a wide (hence, robust) skull. All in all, the functional complex of the teeth, jaw, and cranium show the dental and facial adaptations of chewing in the robust australopithecines.

Criticism about Jonathan Edwards (170-1758)

Genre(s) Autobiographies; Religious works; Sermons; Essays

Jonathan Edwards is legendary in American history and letters not just as a Calvinist minister of fire and brimstone but, more importantly, as a revolutionary thinker who incorporated contemporary psychological and scientific ideas into his discourses on the human mind, natural science, and religion. A man who epitomized the mystical and practical (the evangelical and Puritan) tendencies of his time, Edwards was instrumental in the mid-18th-century revival of American Calvinism known as the Great Awakening. Edwards strove to destroy the increasingly popular Arminianist propositions which rejected the doctrines of predestination and the enslavement of the will. Arminianism asserted a doctrine of universal redemption based on the election, rather than the predetermination, of salvation. Edwards was unyielding in his strict adherence to the absolute primacy of deity and the utter subordination of man, to the Calvinist concept of the depravity of man and grace of the Gospel--to a belief system focusing on God as an inscrutable power that, while constituting humanity and nature, lacked complete identification with either. Throughout his life, despite the growing religious liberalism, Edwards repudiated all modern claims to mans natural rights and free will The unconverted are guilty and deserve the punishment awaiting them; this punishment is given by an infinite God in His justice; and the only hope of escape is by the gift of salvation which cannot be won by mans effort.

According to Perry Miller, Edwardss reading of John Lockes An Essay Concerning Human Understanding was the major event in his intellectual life. From it, Edwards refined his idea that whatever the mind knows as idea depends upon sensation, rather than reason or speculation. As such, through a series of light images in A Divine and Supernatural Light, he discusses religious certainty in empirical terms one intuits or feels grace (the loveliness of Gods holiness) through supernatural illumination. One does not merely rationally believe that God is glorious but he has a sense of the gloriousness of God in his heart. Religious conversion is an overwhelming intuition.

Justification of Faith Alone (174) amplifies Edwardss thesis that the covenant between God and man is one of grace, not works; but faith actualizes grace. Again, consonant with the science of his day, Edwards incorporates Newtons causation theory, that effect exists, regardless of cause (atoms adhere not because of their inherent physical properties but because of an undefined Cause). To Edwards, as gravity adheres in matter, so God inheres in gravity and gives being and oneness to all. Man is therefore not justified just through faith. He has faith because he is first justified through Gods grace. Mans state is not prior but posterior to Gods grace.

Personal Narrative details his conversion twenty years earlier. Grace is a Divine and Supernatural Light that gives the regenerate a new apprehension and disposition to love divine decrees. He traces his regeneration out of the swamp into the meadow of experience, how he saw divine beauty in everything and experienced vehement longings of soul after God and Christ and after more holiness. The mention of a single word in the Bible caused his heart to burn with the ardency of soul and a flood of tears and weeping aloud. Edwards yearned to be nothing before God ... that God might be all. For the saved, there is a mystical-aesthetic intuition of divine beauty through supernatural illumination.

Despite growing resentment toward his frightening portraits of the unredeemed, Edwards delivered the famous sermon

"Nuclear Deterrence has kept the world from war". Discuss

The threat of Nuclear Weapons has certainly not gone unnoticed, with the fear ever present in the global scene. Individuals view the world significantly has been altered with the emergence of nuclear weapons. Deterrence is when "decision makers in one nation seek to prevent certain actions by potential adversaries by threatening them with military retaliation." Nuclear weapons have certainly become a means of deterring unwanted action, particularly during the Post World War II era, however they have not prevented war. During the Cold War nuclear weapons undoubtfully prohibited mass war between the two super powers, the USA and the USSR, who were ever increasing their military capacity. However it did not prelude them from fighting proxy wars, as was evident in the Vietnam War. Furthermore it has certainly not prevented war at present with both the war on terror and the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Nuclear weapons have changed the capacity of warfare, although it has not been evident in any conflicts throughout the world so far, who is to say that it won't occur in the future, because the potential is obviously there.

Nuclear deterrence has kept the world from mass war, particularly during the

Cold War were it prevented a large scale conflict between the USA and the USSR.

Essay service for your "Nuclear Deterrence has kept the world from war". Discuss paper

Nuclear deterrence in the Post World War II era was based on mutual threats as each side

threatened that if it were attacked, it would retaliate in kind with a nuclear strike. During

this period each superpower could survive a surprise attack just long enough to launch a

counter strike which would result in both sides suffering devastating destruction. "Thus

both were mutually deterred from provoking a hot war" The use of nuclear weapons was

and is seen as the last resort, because few if any political ends could be gained by it, their

primary function was to pose a threat to potential enemies. During this time however, the

world did come close to a final nuclear war, as was particularly evident with the Cuban

Missile Crisis, where the USSR bought nuclear weapons into communist Cuba. The

effects of a nuclear war would be devastating, if deterrence failed and the superpowers attacked one another "the target nations would almost certainly cease to exist as

functioning societies." Furthermore unlike previous World Wars were the casualties

numbered in their millions, after a thermonuclear war the deaths would number in their

billions. Nations far from the line of fire would likely be destroyed, and there certainly

would be no bystanders. Fortunately their was no nuclear attack during this time, and the

two superpowers were able to prevent it from occurring. Holsti believes that the most

evident requirement for effective Deterrence is the possession of efficient military

capacity to carry out the threatened retaliation, in addition the deterrence must also be

stable and credible. Finally adversaries must also "impress enemy leaders of their

intentions without provoking a preventive or preemptive strike out of fear" . Nuclear

Deterrence kept us from another world war between the USA and the USSR, as the

effects of a strike would have been so disastrous for all parties involved.

However effective deterrence did not avert the world from war, during the Cold

War and at present many smaller conflicts have and are taking place. During the Cold

War the most evident being the Vietnam War which took place from 161 to 175.

Although the basic motivation behind many of the conflicts was a form of rivalry

between the two superpowers fighting for an ideology, the Vietnam War was to an extent

a proxy war. Some may argue that the genesis of the Vietnam War was essentially a

nationalist one rather then the downward thrust of communism. It is the generally

accepted opinion that the essential motives of the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese

government attacking the South Vietnamese government were to unify the nation.

However former US president J. Kennedy was adamant that the USA would contain the

spread of communism throughout South East Asia by defending the South Vietnamese

government from communist aggression. This conflict during the Cold war, fortunately

did not contain the use of nuclear weapons however America still used chemical

defoliants and Napalm. This is a thick liquid which usually contains petrol, it was

designed to clear away the undergrowth so the USA could see who was supplying the

National Liberation Front with weapons, Unfortunately this liquid also stuck to people's

skin and burned away their flesh. The Vietnam War was a very horrific war, with 57,000

US solders killed together with many Vietnamese; however it was certainly not as

destructive as a nuclear war would have been. Nuclear deterrence did not and has not

prevented the world from war, as was evident with the Vietnam War and by the many

conflicts we see around the world today.

Nuclear Deterrence was ultimately effective in precluding mass war in the past

and the progress in disarmament was somewhat positive. However with the recent

developments, is deterrence possible in the future? In the past we have seen some

positive attempts to reduce the Worlds nuclear capacity for example the Moscow pact

and the treaty between the USA and the USSR in 17 and of course the very well

known Strategic Arms Limitation talks (START I and START II) which began in 11.

However the recent developments with America's anti-missile defense shield may bring

the threat of nuclear war back into the picture. Bush argues that "new concepts of

deterrence, have to replace… the idea of mutually assured destruction" however many

believe that it may destroy existing nuclear agreements and trigger a new nuclear arms

race. Using radar receptors and coordinating with ground based radar transmitters, the

missile defense system is suppose to find incoming threats and destroy them before they

reach the USA, although this may work in theory there is still no guarantee of its

reliability. Furthermore Bush has suggested that he will share his advanced technology

with Japan, Americas NATO allies and South Korea. This in its self causes problems

because some of Americas so called friends will want to know why they haven't been

given the technology and "can America say with certainty that the technology it gives to

one country will not end up in the hands of another. History suggests not." This

extremely dimensional issue has once again bought nuclear war back in the limelight and

although nuclear weapons deterred mass war in the past, who is to say that the future

holds the same outcome. Is our safety worth risking to find out?

When matters of defense become so great that one nation is able to cease

life on Earth, we certainly realize that foreign policy and security has been changed

forever. Although Nuclear Deterrence kept the world from mass war during the past, it

certainly did not prevent smaller more confined conflicts, not in the past nor the present.

Furthermore with the recent developments regarding the Missile Defense Shield, is the

USA starting another arms race and once again putting the world in great danger and

uncertainty, only time will tell.

Standardization of a Base

When standardizing a substance, you are finding the concentration of that substance. The most common way to do this is by titration. In this experiment I took a standardized base and titrated it with a know and an unknown acid. A standard solution has an accurate concentration. To standardize a base, everything must be standardized. A titration must be done with a standard acid solution. While trying to figure out the concentration I added a standard solution to a known volume of a sample until a desired endpoint, in our experiment the endpoint was a change in color of the substance. The standard solution in this experiment was HCO4 + HO, which is also known as oxalic acid. Since the concentration of the acid is known, it will be what is used to standardize the base.

The materials needed for this experiment are as follows a buret; two 400 milliliter beakers; 50 milliliter graduated cylinder; phenopthalein; HCO4 + HO; 50 milliliter beaker; 15 milliliter Erlenmeyer flask; distilled water; NaOH; and KHC4H4O6. In setting up the experiment I filled all of the containers with the correct substance and labeled them. I then weighed all of the substances and their containers and recorded all of this information. Once I mixed the acid solution I added phenopthelein which was the indicator that showed the color change. I then added NaOH to the solution until the solution turned pink then recorded the final volume of the beaker.

After all of the calculations, including all of the volumes and moles of all the substances and their containers, and experimentation I ended up with the concentration of the acid being .16 Molar. This made for a 4.8% deviation. The reason for the high deviation is because of the content of NaOH added to the solution, that fact that I added to much is what you can attribute the high deviation to. I could tell because the color of the solution was too dark.

The results of my experiment were not completely perfect, my deviation was higher than expected, but there is nothing wrong with that. If you wanted to do this experiment and have more success you could have a more precise way of adding the NaOH to the acid. To avoid many mistake do not use a beaker too big because it is less accurate as well. All together this was a successful experiment.

Purpose In 14, the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Director of

Defense Information, issued the Framework for Managing Process Improvement, A

Guide to Enterprise Integration, providing Department of Defense functional managers

with the processes and procedures that should be applied when conducting

process improvement projects throughout the DoD. Since that time there have

been various publications, policies and instructional material developed. This

handbook is a further development of the methodology, procedures, and principles.

Scope Activity accounting is a fully inclusive management information concept

which includes the total spectrum of accounting controls, reports and analysis.

It is oriented on the activity structure of an organization rather than on the

formal departmental or organizational format. The process provides quantitative

activity-based cost information to

ï assess continuing operations and project future impacts for a mature activity-

based organization.

ï evaluate selected process flows, relative cost of various activities, and potential

effects of modifications.

ï analyze alternative process flows with comparative economic evaluation.

Experience has shown that an evaluation using purely qualitative judgement

of possible alternatives and change opportunities is woefully inadequate to demonstrate

the full potential of meaningful improvements, particularly in an environment

where dollars and work hours are a major determinant of performance and

efficiency. It is the quantitative characteristics of activity-based costing that make

it a key component of the analysis and evaluation process and improve the quality

of the final decisions. This means that it cannot be ignored even if it is performed

in a perfunctory manner.

The major difficulty in using activity-based costing has been the variance of

the practices, methods, definitions, procedures, and standards applied under it.

This guidebook is specifically designed to resolve this void and to provide guidance

to those embarking on a redesign effort.

Chapter 1 Introduction to Activity-Based Costing

What is ABC?

ABC is an essential part of the functional process improvement and

reengineering effort. It captures quantified cost and time data and translates this

into decision information. ABC measures process and activity performance, determines

the cost of business process outputs, and identifies opportunities to improve

process efficiency and effectiveness. Qualitative evaluation and determination

alone is totally inadequate as a single measure of improvement. Though quality

might determine ìbetterî, it does not contribute to other meaningful decisions

such as what is ìcheaperî and ìfasterî. It is the integration of these two dimensions

that is the critical decision support element of the total process. ABC is the

mechanism to integrate these two views.

with particular emphasis on the practical use of Activity-Based Costing (ABC)

within DoD, and is intended to be used by DoD personnel in conjunction with the

current published guidance and policy of the DoD. It is important to note that this

guidebook, while intended for DoD use, is based on solid, industry-wide principles

of Activity-Based Costing and therefore can be used by other (non-DoD) governmental

agencies and private sector enterprises.

This is a practical handbook for use during a functional process reengineering

or improvement project. It will provide empirical guidance and suggestions on the

basics of how to plan for, implement, and apply activity-based costing in evaluating

and analyzing process flows and in performing a functional economic analysis

of alternative courses of action. Sorry, no essay in English

In all societies, heroes are the product of a society's perception of someone to be praised and adored; therefore, the definition of a hero is to some degree dependent on a specific society's beliefs, laws, and interests. Universally, however, I believe all men and women in all societies and of all ages need heroes. For young people, heroes can demonstrate direction and provide examples for how life can be. They can also show the different opportunities that are available for those who try. For older people, heroes can provide many different options. As a person gets older, illusions in life are replaced with hard realities. For example, how can someone cope with illness, the loss of close friends, and the many other problems that occur in life? Heroes are very important, whether a person is young or old, because they can give hope, inspiration, and support in trying times. They enable people to go on through life and can even turn tragedies into triumphs. Unfortunately, it may be difficult to actually find a hero due to differences in definition, expectations, and degree of power and influence in specific societies.

Many adults in the 1st century seem to express concern that young people seem to have no heroes. They seem to blame this partly on the political leaders, professional sports players, and other famous figures that have proven to be disappointing role models. Howard Zinn, author of "Unsung Heroes," expands this by stating about America's historical past "…it is good to have historical figures we can admire and emulate. But why hold up as models fifty-five rich white men who drafted the Constitution as a way of establishing a government that would protect…slaveholders, merchants,

bondholders, land speculators?" (11, par. ) This demonstrates that even our most famous forefathers and presidents, whom we praise so highly, can be disappointing role models.

Essay service for your Heroes…Unrecognized, Yet Never Forgotten paper

In addition, people also seem to blame their society for instilling a lack of respect and admiration in the younger generation. However, I believe that the real blame for a shortage of heroes lies in societys unrealistic definition of a hero. For as long as I can remember, in our popular culture, heroes have been portrayed as ideals and as shining, perfect people seen on television or in movies. For example, I have a nephew that is nine years old. He completely idolizes a World Wrestling Federation star called "The Rock". I consider him to be the perfect example of a child who has fictitious heroes. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but I think it would be better if children these days look up to those who influence them and make a difference in their lives. From this, we can go on to assume that those who complain about the lack of heroes demand that we admire people we have never met, on the basis of appearances and second-hand information. In this regard, the concept of a hero is considered irrelevant and forces us to honor false conditions, to respect a celebrity because of what he or she seems to be, only because we are expected to honor celebrity status and popularity as if they were the highest virtues. No wonder celebrities have proven to be disappointing heroes. Every human being possesses both good and bad qualities, and when we worship the good and ignore the bad in people, we are setting ourselves up for a major disappointment. A hero does not have to be a famous personality like Mother Teresa, Michael Jordan, or even Madonna. A hero can easily be a co-worker, a friend who has made the best of a sticky situation, or anyone who has survived an ordeal and can demonstrate the opportunities that can come out of crisis. In fact, Breeze Luetke-Stahlman, author of "Real People Make Real Role Models," believes that " One person can make a difference, and it is these people who we should all strive to be like. Luckily, they are all around us, present in every community. We just have to find them and give them the recognition they deserve" (17, par. 1).

Yet still, when the word hero is mentioned, the word famous comes to mind. These days society has been misleading, where heroes are concerned, by teaching us that to be worthy of the title of hero, a person must be famous. In reality, we cannot make true heroes out of people we do not know personally, or we succumb to the foolish human tendency to judge by appearances only. The very fact that many young people need to stop cherishing the famous should indicate that they have grown beyond the judgment of outer appearances and have developed insight and strength of character. Instead of seeking qualities in strangers to hold in regard, they build admirable qualities in themselves, in their personalities and their own unique dreams. Society does not need the offers of those who emulate famous heroes; it needs the contributions of individuality.

Nevertheless, all of this is lost on those who discredit the lack of a hero as a character flaw. They refuse to see that a real hero, not one based on the expectations of society, cannot be made without the truth, that the truth cannot exist unless we see people as they really are, and that we cannot see people as they are if we have never met them. Jim Tella recognizes this in his essay "Sipping Coffee" by stating, "…my heroes were always found in the pages of my comic books…As long as the comic books remained open…I was invincible. But childhood ends quickly, heroes stay within the ink-colored pages…" (1, par. ) This helps me come to the assumption that children should be taught to admire and look up to those people who actually exist and make a difference in life. We also have to discover that it's really what's inside a person that matters because what's on the outside is only something that "appears" to be there.

However, true heroes do exist. Our world will always have a place for genuine admiration of those near to us. We will always have a place for admiration based on an overall picture of a person with both positive and negative characteristics. There is room for the respect of people whose characters we know and appreciate, yet whose weaknesses are identified by us but still do not faze us. There is always room for people who may not receive public acclaim but do not require acclaim to make them worthy of our admiration. I strongly believe these people are our parents, our siblings, our relatives, our teachers, and our friends. These people are my true heroes. They are the ones who influence me to be who I am and who I will grow up to be. We see them every day, work with them, talk with them, and not only support them, but are supported by them. For example, I believe our teachers alone are of great influence to us. They are the ones who practically teach us right from wrong. Our friends, family, and siblings are the ones who help us to learn from our mistakes and take advantage of what we have. For these people I am truly grateful for and they are my true heroes. They are the ones to be valued for what they are and what they have done for us and for the good of society. Although society may not recognize them, all that matters is that those who do understand the true concept of heroism see in them what should be seen. Although society is confused with false visions of heroes, many people should begin to grasp that heroism is much more than fame and fortune. More people need to realize that we don't need to look far to find someone to admire because those who do deserve credit are right in front of our faces!

As far back as the birth of America there have been executions of all imaginable types used to punish the undesirables of society. There were executions such as lynching and utilizing a fire squad to execute the individual. The thought of this type of punishment being performed in this century would be horrific. America has come a long way in incorporating more humane punishments when certain members of society cannot obey the "rules". One cannot help to think if the present ultimate punishment, lethal injection, is justifiable. When it comes to punishing the criminal, according to the crime committed, members of society are the ones that decide if he or she must spend time in prison or be executed. Capital punishment is and has always been a controversial topic. With issues to consider, such as the moral of this action and who is justified in terminating a human life, the issues are not easily resolved. Recently, this issue has become even more controversial because there is a possibility that registered physicians might be willing to assist in executions. As it stands right now physicians are not involved in the execution process but it might soon become a reality that they can or will be involved. Should Americans let a physician get involved in aiding the execution of a criminal? No, this should never be allowed to happen. Currently, the American Medical Association condemns any active participation by a physician in an execution. This is because there are written medical honor codes and oaths that prohibit this type of action. Our American legislature should never allow a physician to be involved in such an act because it is not medically necessary, a criminals life should not be measured by what is the most economic way to execute, and a physicians primary duty is to assist in bettering the health of a human being not terminate his or her life.

According to the recent survey in which 41 out of 1,000 physicians responded, more than half said they would be involved in some type of aid in an execution (Associated Press.) This survey comes as a surprise. For one thing, all registered physicians should be fully aware that abiding in an execution is not permitted by the medical societies. Only % of the physicians surveyed knew that participation in a execution was prohibited, the rest of the correspondents "was willing to participate in at least one execution." (Associated Press) It is true that physicians are always present at executions, but these are physicians that are specifically assigned by the Department of Corrections to supervise and assist should something go wrong with the injections. They are the exception. It is not necessary for other physicians (other than the one assigned by the Corrections Department) to volunteer or want to participate. The reason? A physician is not really needed in an active participation of an execution. "The techniques, the drugs, the equipment work quite as well in the hands of others-it's not brain surgery" (Suicides and Executions). Specific correction personnel trained and suited for this type of punishment have handled executions all along. Why should this change? Presently all states that have the execution punishment are required by law to have a registered state appointed physician present in an execution. This is done in case there is a problem with the execution procedure being performed, be it via lethal injection or the electric chair. Another reason why the physician needs to be present is to cofirm the death of the condemed. With this information known one must ask why would it be necessary for another physician to be involved in any process of the execution death. A certified physician is already there. The only thought that comes to mind when an unappointed physician wants to participate is the they are curious and it would probably be a good adrenaline rush. Physicians would not be doing it for the money because they would not get paid. A physicians place is not in the execution chambers.

The value of life can not be bargained through cheap exit procedures. For example, during the 170s in the state of Oklahoma, the electric chair was left unused because its equipment was presumed deteriorated. When the state requested an estimate for the repairs, the estimate came out to 64,000 dollars. While this annoyed one state senator, the state examiner joked with him and advised that anesthesia may be a cheaper option. He mentioned to him that with the first execution in the state of Maryland, the anesthesia equipment ran around 75.00, alot less than 64,000 dollars. Of course the senator opted for the cheapest and simplest method of execution. He consulted with the professor of anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma and in 17 professor Stanley Deutsch M.D. replied with a careful letter about how anesthetics might be used for execution (Egbert). A short acting barbiturate thiopental used to put the prisoner asleep followed by a muscle relaxant. During those years many states had been rewriting there laws concerning capital crimes so that the laws would pass must and before the Supreme Court, Oklahoma was one such state (Egbert). According to him, this method of execution was more humane and way less expensive than the electric chair. But is this right? Does it make it justifiable because it is cheaper to execute a prisoner in this way. The value of life can not and should not be bargained in this way. A physician takes an oath to better the health and aide in the longivity of a human being. For this a physician should not be involved in such a procedure.

A physician has always been looked upon by society as a humanitarian. A person who has chosen a path to care and better the health of his or her neighbor. A doctor never sees the race, color of skin, or gender of the person he is treating. For these reasons, it is quite perturbing to know the results of the A.M.A. survey. The results that suggest that there are many physicians out there who would be willing to be involved in some form in a scheduled death. Arent these physicians learning about their main duties thouroughly? If the physicians responded to the survey cant remember to honor the codes of the medical society, then it is the responisibility of our legislative system toremind all physicians that our thinking of participating that there licenses will be revoked. There is currently a proposed bill in writing that would terminate a physicians practice should they be involved in an execution. The bill formerly requires the Board of Healing Art to automatically revoke the license of a physician who is found guilty.... for assisting in a suicide ( Bennette).

In conclusion, all physicians who responded to the survey and all those considering involvement in an execution should immediately reread the code of ethics of the medical societies. As stated before, there is no need for a volunteer physician to attend an execution. Instead they should focus on helping somebody in need of medical attention. They should let the trained professionals handle the executions. It has always been done this way without any problems or assistance, so why should a physician get involved? The fact that prison commities are constantly trying to find a cost effective way to execute the condemned is already degrading to the value of human life. Physicians should stay where they belong and are most needed. Their volunteer time is not wanted or needed in the chamber room.

My Juggling Experience

When I was told I needed to learn to juggle I was appalled. Me? Juggle? Not possible! When I thought about juggling I really thought it would be difficult, however, I was determined. I immediately purchased juggling balls and began practicing. After a few tries I became agitated because I kept making the same error. I panicked as soon as I threw the first ball, and instantaneously threw the second one wherever I could as long as I was able to catch the first one.

After getting a feel for juggling I felt that it would be helpful to learn a step-by-step approach, this is when I purchased the book. The book stressed that in order to juggle successively; you must relax and make sure the toss is accurate. As I continued to read, I discovered that the mistakes I was making were very common among novice jugglers. The tips I read about became very helpful to me because I was able to distinguish my flaws.

Online essay help on Loss Of A creature

The main aspect that I felt was important in juggling is knowing the amount time one has between tosses. I found that by rushing you are unable to think the exact location in which you want the ball to reach. In addition, you complete the first task without considering the second; this makes it more difficult. When I first began juggling I felt that I was pressed for time, which contributed to me making the same careless mistakes. I realized that there was no reason to rush and I began to work at a slower pace. In doing so, I found that juggling was significantly easier than it was in my original attempts.

I developed a new routine after I learned the steps recommended in the reading. This routine was more organized and had less room for error. I grew more confident in myself and practiced juggling every opportunity I had. I found that I had much more time in the day to practice than I had intended. I took my juggling balls with me everywhere I went. For instance, I would practice juggling while waiting for the train, during work breaks, and even while watching television.

In conclusion, I feel that I have gained a tremendous amount of skills. For example, I have acquired time management skills, patience, determination and the ability to juggle. This experience has broadened my mind and showed me that there is much more time than originally perceived.
