Only a few days after the terrorist attacks on September 11, two people in the State of Florida died from anthrax infection. It immediately led us to think that the ones responsible for these deaths were the same terrorists responsible for the previous tragedy. Blaming the Taliban would probably be the easiest thing to do because of all the terror we have seen in their actions. However, to our surprise it appears like bin Laden has no involvement in this process. The purpose of my paper is to dig deeper into the study by investigating the sources of this problem that has frightened Americans to the point of forcing some of them to leave the country. Where is it all coming from?

Before starting talking about the problem itself, it is of great importance to know what we are dealing with, in other words, what Anthrax is. This is a disease most commonly found in farm animals. It is a bacterial disease that usually affects the skin causing many symptoms including the following itching at first developing into more serious consequences such as papular and vesicular lesions. Also, hands, forearms and the head are the most common sites of infection which has led some doctors to confusion with Orf Virus Disease which makes the disease somehow confusing to identify in some particular cases (Boyce, 001).

However, in my opinion the bioterrorist problem we are experiencing is merely internal. If bin Laden truly wanted to take revenge and terrorize us, he would have killed many more people. Also, as was proved earlier, the technology necessary to make the aerosol substance of anthrax is very sophisticated and expensive. That leads us to think that only powerful and technologically advanced countries such as the US can develop aerosol anthrax as opposed to a country like Afghanistan that is not economically potent. At this moment, bin Laden is surely worried about more important things than killing three post-office workers here in the US. It might just be a crazy American trying to scare the whole country which by the way is doing a great job.
