RAVENSTAIL WEAVING

Ravenstail weaving predates the Chilkat weaving by about 400 years, and for almost 00 years there were no known weavers. We say no known weavers because no one went to all the remote villages and asked, "Do you weave, and did your Mother or Grandmother weave the Ravenstail?" The natural progression of weaving was from the Cedar bark and spruce root weaving into the Ravenstail then the Chilkat weaving. The basket and Ravenstail weaving was all in the hands of the woman; she had full control of the designs. When the Chilkat weaving came about the men became involved. A Master carver would carve or paint a pattern board the size of the robe; the pattern would only be on one half of the board and the weaver had to create a mirrored image on the other half of the weaving. If the carver was a generous man he would create templates of the ovoids so the weaver could make sure her sizes were correct. The Ravenstail warp was originally from the Mountain Goat; since our hunting season is wrong for gathering their wool we now use merino sheep wool that is thigh spun. In the past 0 years people have tried to use spinning wheels and other spinning tools to spin the warp, but none of them spin what we need so we still do it the original way on a damp thigh. The traditional colors are white, black, and yellow. White was the natural color of the wool, black was from ash or iron ore, and the yellow was from wolf moss which grows on trees on the mainland.

Ravenstail was rediscovered by accident by a Chilkat weaver named Cheryl Samuels. She was in a museum researching the Chilkat weaving when she came across a box labeled Tsimsian yarn. She asked if she could look into the box and was left alone. When she opened the box it looked like a bunch of yarn but when she began moving the yarn she found it to be a woven robe. The robe was in very bad shape, but since she was a Chilkat weaver she knew she had found something special. This started her on a search of the known countries that had traded in Alaska to find any and all information on this form of weaving. In her travels she found 15 robes some were still whole but most were in pieces some pieces as small as a dime, some pieces where even in separate countries. Cheryl then returned to Alaska and began reteaching the Alaskans the art of Ravenstail weaving. The 15 robes are now called the Mother robes to show respect to the original weavers, and the robes are now our teachers.

Ravenstail weaving is done on an open loom, as is the Chilkat. The weaver is responsible to keep the tension proper along with the alignment. Ravenstail is done over or 4 warps at a time depending on the pattern she is working. All rows are worked one at a time tying off at the end of each row and inserting a fringe at the beginning of the row. All pattern areas are enclosed within a three strand twined box that ends with a braided tail, which is what the Ravenstail is named for. A Robe may take a year or more to weave and is sized for the person who has commissioned it.

In the past 0 to 5 years the Weavers have grown from 0 to over 00. This is my best guess based on the number of classes and students. Of course some students have woven only one item while others just keep on learning and making something new all the time.

Jefferson was a very complex individual with many ideas that upset the Federalist Party and everyone else associated with them. He can be seen as a revolutionist; he encouraged uprisings in the people to keep them involved in how they ran their own lives. But Jefferson was not willing to try to force upon people things they were not ready for. Regarding his idea of gradual emancipation that he never introduced, " that the public mind would not bear the proposition… Yet the day is not distant when it must bear and adopt it, or worse will follow." He believed the people governing themselves, not some outside force giving them orders. "Dupont loved them as infants who must be nursed, while he loved them as adults who could govern themselves." He strongly believed that power should not be granted to a central core. He believed that power manifested itself in the minds of man would be corrupt and cause tyranny.

Jefferson's vision for the new republic was spawned from his experiences in Europe. He lived and experienced the people; comparing and contrasting their form of rule to America's. Jefferson had a divine respect for the farming class of America, and when he talked about "the people" he was talking about them. Jefferson was " a pacifist in personal temperament and philosophy, a nationalist by training, and yet a Virginian with strong parochial loyalties. He wanted with all his heart to hold to the values of agrarian society, and yet he believed in progress."() His vision was to present, begin, and hope his ideals would become part of culture if they suited the people best. He realized that the people would not even know many of them in his lifetime. He wanted a place where people could be industrious; earn a living for themselves and a life. He wanted a place where people could be free to go to work and make money to buy something that would belong to them. He wanted people to have a say in government and how they lived. He wanted a democracy. A truly significant aspect of Jefferson is that he realized the world was every changing. Most of all I think Jefferson wanted America to be, " in the pursuit of happiness" (55). He wanted people to be able to change laws and manipulate government in the future to suit them best. " … the tree of liberty must be watered periodically with the blood of tyrants… that the constitution should be completely remade every 5 or 0 years."() Jefferson wanted to run the nation by the nation.

Jefferson's ideals where eventually carried through as seen in our American culture today. The freedom to vote, work, and be free were all part of his plan. But the most important ideal in my opinion is our ability to conform to the new world in which we live. Jefferson realized that future generations would need to change certain laws and government policies. Jefferson also believed in the working class of America, the class that runs the nation. He knew that we could and would build a place where our ideals would come first, where we could live our lives the way we choose.

Symbolism

Symbolism was displayed throughout the play King Lear. Symbolism is anything that stands for or represents something beyond it. It is a direct suggestion to express ideas and emotions. The following symbols will be observed, the storm, the clothes, and the Fool.

The storm served many purposes in the play. The storm was very strong as was Lear's rage. At that point in time Lear realized that he had made mistakes and gained insight. He fell for Goneril and Regan's flattery and as a result, disowned his favourite and only truthful daughter, Cordelia. In the process he lost a worthy friend, Kent. Lear faced the storm with frustration and fury. His heart was breaking into a thousand pieces just like the sound of the thunder and lightning. Lear referred to himself as a powerless being.

" A poor, infirm, weak and despised old man." (III.ii.0)

Order essays on symbolism and other topics

Lear's inner emotions were heightened during the storm. Nature's elements such as bolts of lightning, claps of thunder, wind and rain excited Lear and set the atmosphere at that stage in the play. The words that Lear used were rough sounding much like the storm. This is known as onomatopoeia. ""Spit, fire! Spout, rain" (III, ii.14).Lear knew his decisions were unnecessary but he believed that he didn't deserve that punishment.

" I am a man more sinned against than sinning." (III, ii.5-50)

It was during the storm that we noticed signs of Lear going mad. In fact, Lear actually referred to himself as being crazy. " My wits begin to turn" ((III, ii. 67). We also noticed that Lear's character has changed. He was more concerned about others and was not as self -centred as the character we met in the beginning of the play. When Lear was outside of the hovel, he showed concern for another person, the Fool.

"Come, your hovel. Poor fool and knave, I have one part in my heart that's sorry for thee." (III, ii.71-7).

Clothing represents the status of a person. From the start of the play, Lear was portrayed as a wealthy

individual because he wore prestigious clothing. During the storm, Lear went through a process of self-realization. He was now able to understand that he hasn't paid attention to the poor when he had the power to do something. At that moment, he saw everything with clarity. He went on to tell Edgar that while clothing may make a man who he is, underneath those clothes, is a man like any other, man. Man is nothing more than a naked animal without any social status and money. Lear removed his clothing to the point where he was naked.

" Thou art the thing itself; unaccommodated man is no more but such a poor, bare forked animal, as thou art. Off, off you lendings! Come, unbutton here." (III, iv. 105-108).

Clothing can also have been seen as a way of hiding reality through appearance. For example,

Gloucester conversed with his son Edgar several times but because of his disguise as a Bedlam beggar, he was unable to recognize him. Kent also disguised himself as Caius to Lear. Again, this disguise was successful because Kent was not discovered.

A fool's role in a play is to usually entertain the audience. While the fool in King Lear served

that purpose, he was a blunt and wise individual who seemed to advise Lear. He spoke of the truth and told Lear that he made a mistake by disowning Cordelia.

Comparing a Paraphrase with a Poem

Don't tell me life has no meaning,

When the soul is active, it is alive,

Things aren't always as bad or good as they seem.

Purchase your paper on "A Psalm of Life"

All duties in life should be fulfilled honestly,

You don't live to die,

You were made out of dust when you were created, you will return to that form when you die,

Though the soul does not return to the Earth as your body will.

We are not destined to have happiness or sorrow,

We need to focus on today, so that we can progress tomorrow.

Time is always passing,

Our hearts continue to beat none the less,

Every heart beat brings us closer to death.

In the struggles of life,

There are safe havens, though do not always turn to them for comfort,

Go out and change something.

Don't live for a predetermined future and don't dwell on the past,

Act and live for now, knowing God is looking down on you and knowing your still alive.

Men of the past,

Remind us we can be noble as well and make a difference for the better of the people,

Hoping another man will take the initiative to create his/her own legacy,

Prepare for anything in life, though don't forget to strive for progression and success,

But don't forget you need work and patience to achieve that.

Now that you understand what Longfellow's general idea for the poem was, try to find some obscure meanings in the word structure. When a poem is taken out of context, such as this, many points, emotion, and imagery are lapsed. For example the line "A forlorn and shipwrecked brother/ Seeing, shall take heart again." In figurative language, this provides you with an image of one man helping another at sea. Perhaps the rescuer hopes his "brother" will go on to help another. Though in context to the overall idea of the poem, the rescuer hopes the man will help others by creating a legacy.

Moreover, and perhaps the line with the greatest meaning is "leave behind us/ Footprints on the sands of time." This line can be portrayed in one of several ways. In paraphrasing, you are given only one way in which the text could be perceived. It also provides a tone of dignity and duty. This line means to make a great change that can be appreciated over time. Though it can also be analysed as once your mark is made, or footprint, everyone will know and remember you. This provides us with a separate meaning. Therefore, a poem in it's original context allows us to interpret it in many ways, in contrast to paraphrased poems.

Furthermore, in paraphrasing, Longfellow's work has lost it's full emotion and information of the speaker. In the beginning of "A Psalm of Life", it tells you that the speaker is a young man who is talking to a psalmist and that this is what is in his heart. In the original framework it also gives you a sense that the speaker is active rather than passive. The speaker may also be religious and optimistic. It also gives you an insight of the author's opinions. This is illustrated when Longfellow refers to cattle as dumb and driven. Though you would never know this since paraphrasing omits emotion, tone, interpretation, and imagery. It is created to get straight to the point, but many parts of Longfellow's work are lost.

John D Rockefeller began as a humble oil business book-keeper in Cleveland, Ohio and in just seven years rose to control a tenth of the entire US oil business. Rockefeller was the guiding force behind the creation and development of the Standard Oil Company, which grew to dominate the oil industry and became one of the first big trusts in the United States, thus engendering much controversy and opposition regarding its business practices and form of organization. However these business practices even though they were unethical the result was what were needed in order for the American economy to be what it is now. Without people like Rockefeller we wouldn't be where we are now. He did what had to be done in order to improve the economic society. When Rockefeller was growing up he was imbedded with this mentality in his head of cheating people. His dad was already training him to become "dirty". He started teaching him his methods of business and the tricks of trade to being a successful business man. As he was growing he had a dream and he was willing to do anything to accomplish this dream. His drive to succeed was what lead him to be the notorious person he was known to be. As he grew he decided to stay away from having much of a social life because he knew it may lead to interruption of his work.

Rockefeller and his partners successfully created and applied a system for operating a large integrated enterprise which was one of the starts of the early big businesses. The main players of this business were Flagler Rockefeller and Dodd .His choice of partners was a very decisive move because each one had a certain characteristic that fit the business that Rockefeller was trying to run. There Oil Company was now considered a monopoly which is when one business rules over a certain industry. The Supreme Court deemed this to be a terrible thing they forced to Oil Company to split up into different branches. He would secretly buy up or create new oil related companies such as engineering and pipeline firms. These seemed to be independent operators. Rockefeller and his close colleagues secretly controlled the firms and gave Standard Oil, Rockefeller's main oil company, hidden rebates. This company became a monopoly by Rockefeller eliminating competition this was done because he had strategies which he acquired from his father. In order to demolish his competition he would do such things as buy them out or attempt to bargain for items and buy them for a cheap amount. They would also do things such as buying the strongest men which allow them to work faster they would get these men at any extent even if it meant getting them from there competitor. They also did things such as watch the competitor's shipments and they would be in co-operation with the railroad men in order to do this. These steps taken by Rockefeller led to our economic success as a country even though his ways may have been unorthodox however without his practices big businesses such as Microsoft would not exist today. This was also needed at the time because it was survival of the fittest and he needed to do what he had to do in order to survive.

We had a terrific day planned. It was a beautiful morning, not a cloud in the sky and not much traffic on the road. The forecast was sunny with a high of 0 degrees, only a slight chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. We packed the coolers with a variety of foods, from snacks to desserts. The arrangements were scheduled for 800 a.m. in a small city of Frenchtown, New Jersey. There were fifteen of us with six boats. We decided to travel south from Trenton and launch the boats at the public boat ramp, completely unaware of what was about to happen.

Once we successfully got to the water, we quietly drifted across the river without a ripple in sight. We swam for a while; a few others vigorously skied behind their boats. When noon came, everyone agreed to anchor the boats in a nearby cove as we had done numerous times before. While we ate lunch, we overheard the marine radio announce a severe storm warning heading directly our way. The cove was crammed with other boaters, and not a soul seemed overly concerned about the approaching storm. Several more boaters were just settling in to enjoy a peaceful afternoon as well.

As the day quickly passed by, we watched the sky gradually turn into a dark gray shade. The wind began to progressively increase and we decided to return to the boat launch where we had begun our journey earlier that day. As we hastily traveled north, strong violent winds rapidly approached us. Rain began stinging our faces, and visibility was nearly impossible. I grasped our terrified children and huddled with them in the cuddy cabin of our boat. With tears filling my eyes, I said in a suppressed voice, "everything will be fine."

The motion from inside the boat felt as though enormous waves were quickly rising and falling below us. To avoid the oncoming boats, we unintentionally changed direction, turning away from the manmade channel. Suddenly we came to an abrupt halt; the motor practically ceased. We were horrified to find ourselves trapped on top of an immense sand bar that was slightly submerged below the surface. It was evident help would be unsuccessful during this chaotic moment. We sighted a number of other boaters frantically trying to race the wind, scurrying to safety.

Write a research paper on comparison

The lightning flashed intensely as the rain poured down in vast sheets of water. We tried every imaginable technique we had learned through years of training as well as experience to escape the storm. The wind eventually forced us back into the merciless channel of water. As we came within reach of a large oak tree, we quickly secured the anchor line. In an instant, we ran with fear to a small gazebo at a riverside park already occupied with numerous other frightened boaters. Feeling equally discouraged, our group watched as our boats smashed against the rocky shore. Tree limbs and other debris surrounded us as we stared helplessly. We hung on to our children tightly until the sky began to clear, and the fierce wind slowly decreased.

I thought for a moment how lucky we were to defy death. We made extremely slow progress back to the dock as we dodged the large branches and debris that were left from the powerful storm. This horrific event taught our group a valuable lesson never ignore weather warnings.

fear is the beginning and the beginignis fear . BACKGROUND

At the time Joan was born England and France were fighting the 100 years of war.

The Frenchmen were divided and the supporters of the Orleans were fighting the Burgundians, who were in league with the English.

Henry V had just won the Battle of Agincourt and the French werent doing very well.

Born into a peasant family in a little village called Domremy in the east of France in 141.

Never learned to read or write.

At the age of 1 began to hear voices and see visions of saints Margaret, Catherine and Michael.

The saints told her to go tot he French Court and help the Dauphin Charles become King of France.

In 148, at the age of 16 she went to see Robert de Baudricourt the local Commandment to ask him to send her to the Dauphin.

In 14 she got his permission and went to see the Dauphin at Chinon.

Joan was able to convince him that God had sent her to save France.

A board of religious experts approved her claims and she was given troops to command.

. The Capture Of Orleans

The army was preparing to help Orleans, which was being besieged by the English.

The French had been waiting for the wind to change so they could send supplies up the river into the city.

As soon as Joan arrived, the wind changed and the supplies could be sent.

Joan rode into battle wearing armour and carrying a white banner.

In May 14 she inspired the French so much they captured two forts from the English.

Although she was injured she kept fighting to save Orleans from the English.

VICTORY!

The victory at Orleans proved to be a real turning point in the 100 Years War

Joan and the army won several more battles including the battle of Patay.

Then as she said she returned to the Dauphin and marched with him across northern France, through the English armies to Rhiems for his coronation in 14.

She was given the place of honour at his side.

. Joan's Capture

In 140 Joan was captured by the Burgundians while helping to defend Compiegne.

They then sold her to the English but Charles made no effort to try and save her.

She was imprisoned and put on trial by a religious court called the Inquisition.

The English wanted to blacken her name so she would not inspire the French and hopefully they would just forget her.

So they decided to make out she was a witch so the University Of Paris declared her a witch. (No one dared try to stop the English they were to powerful)

She was questioned for 14 months in this court.

Eventually she was accused of the 1 sins including wearing men's clothes.

She was found guilty of Heresy for believing she was directly responsible to God rather than to the Roman Catholic Church.

The trial was unfair because the English had all ready bribed the judges to sentence her to death.

In 141 at the age of 1 she was burnt at the stake as a witch in Rouen.

5 years later she was made the "Maid of Orleans" and was later made a saint.

Achievements

She encouraged the French.

She had the power to make them believe in Victory.

The Dauphin might never have been crowned without her efforts.

After she was killed Charles found new strength and got back all of France except Calais.

She actually convinced the French that she was sent by God therefore people were prepared to trust her.

Lego from useful toy to marketing ploy

As a wee papoose, Lego was my toy of choice.

I could use it to entertain mates over for cordial and cookies on Sunday. I could throw it (lose it). Fire it at toy soldiers with rubber bands. And I could make stuff with it. I could create. Imagine something and build it.

The basic yellow, white, red and blue bricks presented me with possibilities out of count. The fantastic interchangeability of the pieces meant that, with my vast pile of white bricks, I could erect a country house complete with gables and garden. If that got boring, the house could be dismantled and the same white bricks used to build a boat. Or a castle. Or an ice cream truck. My imagination was the limit. Legos only flaw was a rather meagre selection of brick colours. Nevertheless, Legos brilliant simplicity gave me, and millions of others, years of entertaining creative exercise. Lego was undoubtedly the most constructive thing to let slip from limp-wristed Scandinavia since Gustavus Adolphus.

Cheap writing services for Lego: From Useful Toy to Marketing Ploy papers

0s Lego is different. Now the bricks are much more specific and less interchangeable and versatile. The sets are not comprised so much from basic pieces as from gimmicky odds and sods like monkeys, rafts, palm trees, and readymade castles. Lego is now less the brick than the meticulously designed and marketed fantasy world.

So what? Whats wrong with that? In and of itself, nothing. But in those times before the Nowadays, the child was the creative genius of his own world. With really only basic building bricks (plus a tad extra), he was left to do as he pictured in his mind. The creative genius of his world now pockets $40k+pa and is labelled a product designer (really just big kids dictating their imagination to littler kids).

Still you say, Whoopty-poop. Whats the big deal? Your childs imagination is not being as vigorously exercised as it once was, thats what. Why is that important? Because in Genesis 11 In the beginning, God created . . . Gods first action was one of creativity and imagination. Your child is made in His image. Imagination and creativity is one of his or hers greatest gifts. We should ensure it is exercised. And Lego, exemplifying most kid's toys, isn't exercising it the way a toy should.

Im sure its not some sinister plot of Legos to dull your rugrats mind till theyve got the creative flair of a wet sock. Im sure its just a cunning plan devised by Danish marketing executives. They know, like the Yanks, that the quality and usefulness of their goods are subordinate to the artifice of their display. They know that society, sloshed on the tap of running laughter, must be entertained and dazzled. They know, too, that you dont sell a good, you sell an image. All marketers worth their salt have that one down pat. In short, it is the triumph of form over content.

Am I just an aging grump griping about how the way things were was so much better than the way things are now? Maybe. But then, at least Im imagining things.

In "The Story of an Hour", the writer creates an upsetting, joyful, and shocking tone. This is done through the action and sequences in the story, as well as the outlook of the characters in the story.

In the beginning of the story, the tone is upsetting. This tone is created through the news of the death of Mr. Mallard. Mrs. Mallard seems to be upset by the news. "She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister's arm" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p.177). This makes the reader feel sorry for Mrs. Mallard because, as any wife would be, she is upset and sad. Later, her reaction changes. "When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p.177). The death of her husband upsets her so much that it touches her soul. She is "pressed down by physical exhaustion that haunted her body and seemed to reach into her soul" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p.177). These scenes from the story create an upsetting tone.

The tone then changes to joyful and tender. Mrs. Mallard begins to realize that the situation is not as bad as she thought it was. This joyful tone is created through her outlook on life hereafter. She begins to look out her window and think about life. "She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the spring life" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p.177). Spring represents a rebirth. She is looking out the window and realizing all the good things that will come from having her freedom. "She said it over and over under her breath free, free, free!" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p. 178). Mrs. Mallard realizes that the rest of her life will belong to her now, which creates a joyful outlook for her. She knows she can now live for herself with no one controlling her. "There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature" (The Story and its Writer p. 178). Mrs. Mallard realizes the positive turns that her life will take; thus, the story now has a joyful and uplifting tone.

At the end of the story, the tone takes another quick turn. It has a shocking tone. This tone is created through the news that Mr. Mallard is still alive. Mrs. Mallard and her family are shocked when he walks through the door. "He stood amazed at Josephine's piercing cry" (The Story and its Writer 5th edition p.178). It is shocking that Mrs. Mallard dies from heart disease because she was so happy and hopeful only minutes before her husband arrive. The main contributor to the shocking tone is created through the news that Mr. Mallard is still alive and the death of Mrs. Mallard. This shocks the family and the reader, for different reasons. The family thinks, "she died of heart disease of joy that kills" (The Story and its Writer p. 178). However, the reader realizes that she actually dies of a broken heart.

Hamlet. Is he an insane madman or a revengeful, scheming, genius? There are many conflicting ideas and theories on this subject, and hopefully this paper may be of some assistance in clearing up the confusion. The paper is divided into three separate analytic sections beginning with the beginning of Hamlet¹s so called madness, and why it may have occurred. Next, is an analysis of why Hamlet delays revenging his father¹s death. To conclude the paper, Hamlet¹s incestuous acts towards his mother are discussed, in William Shakespeare¹s Hamlet.

In the first act Hamlet seems to be in a perfectly sane state of mind throughout all five scenes. It is in the second scene where the audience begins to see a change in his character. Ophelia meets with Polonius and recalls the meeting she had previously with Hamlet. She tells her father that Hamlet came to her disheveled and in a shaken state of mind, speaking of ³horrors.² (Act Scene line 4). Her father immediately believes that he is ³Mad for thy love?² (Act Scene line 5). Opelia answers a question posed by Polonius by which she replied that she had told Hamlet that she could not see or communicate with him any more. Her father makes reference to Hamlet¹s madness once again by proclaiming that what his daughter said, ³... hath made him (Hamlet) mad.² (Act Scene line 1).

The argument of whether Hamlet is insane because of his love for Ophelia is often debated, but a more confusing and complex situation is the struggle within Hamlet¹s mind. His personal struggle is revealed to the audience in scene one of the third act. In this scene Hamlet recites his famous ³To be or not to be-that is the question² (Act Scene 1 line 64) speech. Here the the audience truly realizes that Hamlet is torn two ways in his life. To be or not to be, essentially is Hamlet debating on whether he should toil the pains of living in such a harsh world and fight to avenge his father¹s murder or take his own life. Hamlet is confused as to whether he should avenge his father¹s death when he himself, as Sigmund Freud¹s ³Oedipus Rex Complex² suggests, wished to murder his father to gain all of his mother¹s attention. But, in the back of Hamlet¹s mind, which keeps him in constant turmoil, is his loyalty to his family and moreover his father.

Hamlet, in act four scene two, meets with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and he seems to be breaking down into insanity. Hamlet had just killed Polonius, and his two friends were questioning him as to where he placed the body of the dead man. The strange thing about this scene is that Hamlet seems to play with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and does not give them a straight answer. Hamlet has practically transformed into a different person and doesn¹t seem to be completely sane.

Next is another situation that cannot be totally explained. The situation being Hamlet¹s delays in avenging his father¹s death. The first that Hamlet learns of his father¹s death is in act one scene five, where he follows the ghost. Hamlet is told, by the ghost, that he (the ghost) is the soul of Hamlet¹s father, and that he was murdered by Claudius.

How to Avoid Telemarketing Scams in Business

Some vendors use unscrupulous telephone solicitations to sell their products. When you receive an unsolicited telephone call from a vendor, be very careful what information you provide them. They will try to trick you into giving them a verbal purchase contract.

Some common approaches include

"Hi, Steve, it's Bill from the warehouse, we're ready to ship that order, should it go to your attention?"

"Good morning, this is Yolanda, I'm calling to get the model number off your copier"

"I would like to send you a brand new, revolutionary, high yield toner cartridge for your evaluation"

"Hello David, I was having lunch with Rob yesterday and he said I should contact you to arrange shipment of the flux capacitors"

"My husband died yesterday, he owned a small business, and I need to sell some of his office supplies to pay for the funeral, my good friend, Mr. Leah Flanagan said you would be happy to help me out"

"Hey Jimbo, this is Puff Daddy from the computer supplies warehouse, I would like to send you out our new catalog and while I have you on the phone, let me tell you about a few specials we're having to celebrate our 0th hour in business. Blah, blah, blah, blah, By the way, Jimbo, why don't you give me your home address and I'll send you out a case of those Omaha Steaks, mmm mmmm good…….."

"Hi David, To thank you for your past business, I 'd like to send a combination clock/radio/shotgun to your house, all I ask is that you try……………"

"Howdy friend, how's the weather up there in Syracuse, NY? Y'all seen any snow yet? The reason I'm calling you son, is that I was hopin' you could help me out of a jam, our hauler done broke down on U.S. 81 right near your place and I got a load of ice melt just wastin' away, so have I got a deal for you……"

There are a million variations of the above scenarios and the number of commodities that they are trying to peddle increases regularly. The most common commodities include light bulbs, maintenance supplies, office supplies, computer supplies and printer supplies.

Some strategies to safely get off the phone are

"We don't make purchases over the phone, please send me a catalog"

"I'm not authorized to make purchases, please call the Purchasing Department"

"We only purchase from approved suppliers. If you send your latest financial statement to the Director of Purchasing, I'm sure he will consider adding you to the list"

"We have a long term contract for those products, it expires on January 15th……………..008"

"We only do business by purchase order, please call the Purchasing Department"

The longer you entertain these people on the telephone the more likely that you will say something that could be interpreted as a verbal contract. Sometimes just getting your last name will result in a shipment to our company to your attention. Keep the conversation professional and brief. Please see Sue Welch or myself if you have any questions.

The power of enzymes

Methods and Materials

· 6 beakers, 00m1 ($15)

· spoons

· Soap, cut or grated into very fine pieces (6g for each experiment)

· Biological washing powder (6g for each experiment)

· lOOml measuring cylinder ($10)

· large beakers, 500m1 ($0)

· Cotton wool ($.50)

Procedures

Cut the sample of cotton wool and roll into 6 small bundles. Stain two bundles with soil, two with egg and two with used cooking oil. Do not stain too heavily, otherwise the cleansing effect would be difficult to observe. See diagram below.

Cut the sample of cotton wool and roll into 6 small bundles. Stain two bundles with soil, two with egg and two with used cooking oil. Do not stain too heavily, otherwise the cleansing effect would be difficult to observe.

Weigh 6g of the fine soap pieces in a 500ml beaker and add 00ml of water.

Stir to dissolve the soap. Measure l00ml of the soap solution into each of three

00ml beakers.

Weigh 6g of biological washing powder in a 500 ml beaker and add 00ml of water. Stir to dissolve. Some brands of washing powders might not dissolve readily in water, in such cases a dispersion of the washing powder in water is good enough for the experiment.

Measure 100 ml of the washing powder solution into each of the three 00ml beakers.

To each of the soap solutions, add one piece of the stained cotton either - one soil stained, one egg stained or one oil stained. Do the same for the washing powder solutions.

Examine the beakers at intervals of 5 minutes, up to half an hour. And then make one final examination at the end of 1 hour.

Some questions could be asked about this activity.

· From the results obtained, do biological washing powders have better cleansing power than soap?

· What type of enzyme or enzymes could be present in the brand of washing powder you are using?

Remarks

Use different types of washing powders or different types of stains, but only vary one factor at a time; e.g. if you compare one biological washing powder with another, test at the same temperature on the same type of stain on the same material.

Other types of stains like tomato sauce, lipsticks, grease and mangosteen skin juice may also be used.

For one of the materials that you have tried out in (a), compare the action of soap with that of the biological washing powder on stained material soaked for 15 minutes in water at the following temperatures

1. 5oC (cold water from tap)

. 45oC (warm water)

. 100oC (boiling water, CAREFUL!)

Does biological washing powder work well in boiling water? Why or why not?

What has this got to do with Biotechnology?

Enzymes are the main active ingredient in the washing powder. The main method of producing the enzymes is through the culture of microorganisms on a large scale under special conditions. Man is therefore making use of microorganisms to produce the desired products. Furthermore, man is also using the product of the microorganisms to perform a service. In this case, he is using enzymes to clean the stains. This is a valuable service!

Why I wrote this book

I am not trying to make this book to be a 'writer'. I do not want a reputation and all of that. I do not want people to study my book and recognize the language features (if there is any)

I am writing it for a few reasons

Well I have a lot of spare time and have been thinking about it for a while…

The main inspiration is my mums diary which she has kept for some time, and I always think it will be a good thing for people to read when they are older. The nd main reason is because I think that it will be a good thing to look back on when I am older.

Matt musician

Well… music has gone back a long time in our family. My dads father who I never met played the violin, my sister played violin and piano, she reached one of the top levels but no longer plays much. My dad plays the guitar, self taught he can still play along to most songs by listening to them and quickly working out what key they are in. My brother also plays the guitar when he can and is also self taught. I first thought of learning the guitar in about standard 4 when I wanted an electric guitar. I wanted one all through my intermediate years until I realized I should be making the most of my opportunities and play the acoustic since we had a couple lying around the house. In form I took up lessons until we were in Christchurch once when I bought an electric guitar. I immediately thought I was the man and had more fun standing on my bed and playing unplugged than playing through the amp.

I soon found a teacher through a friend and have been learning with him ever since.

When people ask me how long I've been playing, I tell them 5 years. It is unfortunate that I am not very good.

Toilet humour

Well.. what can I say. Toilet humour is funny, the funniest thing ever. I cannot believe I am writing this but I am well known as one of the best farters around.

I just cannot see how some people do not find toilet humour funny. Sure its disgusting. Everytime you fart you are spewing poo particles out but nothing is funnier than a big sloppy fart in somebodys face. I used to be obbseessed with farting. This was shown by my rd form speech on flatulence where at the start I waited for silence before letting rip.

I have farted in some very awkward situations. Nothing is better for lighting up the worst of situations than a big fart.

The worst situation I've ever been in was when I was inside the hosue on a Friday afternoon and our family was about to go to our batch for the weekend.

Next thing you know it I am out the front of the nextdoor neighbours house watching my neighbour have a stroke. It was horrible. Ambulance was on the way, however he could not stand up. When the ambulance showed up the officers helped the poor man get to his feet. He struggled and nearly collapsed. He then began to throw up all over the place. I was shocked as I had never seen this soprt of thing before and there it was happening right in front of my eyes. The next thing I hear is a fart. Then another, then another.

I could not help myself but laugh. I bit the inside of my lip the hardest its ever been bitten and turned the other way. Luckily noone noticed. Here was a man possibly about to die and I was laughing because those were the best farts I had ever heard.

TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access), a new standard for G mobile networks. TD-SCDMA covers all application scenarios. It is designed to address all sizes of cells - from rural areas to hot spots and indoor applications in busy city centers. Since TD-SCDMA is based on the TDD principle and uses unpaired frequency bands, it offers optimum efficiency for both symmetric and asymmetric data services. Due to its small bandwidth of 1.6 MHz this technology allows flexible allocation of the spectrum.

The main challenge for G mobile systems is mastering both symmetric circuit switched services such as speech or video as well as increasing asymmetric packet switched services such as mobile Internet access. In answer to this challenge, TD-SCDMA combines two leading technologies designed as an advanced TDMA/TDD system with an adaptive CDMA component operating in synchronous mode, TD-SCDMA is well suited for all G applications.

In contrast to UTRA-FDD and UTRA-TDDHCR, the TD-SCDMA network elements (NE) can be connected directly to GSM infrastructure. Network operators are able to offer G voice, video and data services without expensive installation of completely new networks. Instead, selective insertion of TD-SCDMA NEs into existing GSM radio access network structures allows a gradual growth of G coverage alongside the upcoming market demand.

Real-time applications like voice and multimedia applications require minimum delay during transmission and the generated traffic is symmetric. For non real-time applications like e-mail, Internet and intranet access, timing constraints are more relaxed and the generated traffic is asymmetric. The near future will show a mix of real-time and non real-time services at the same user terminal. Based on the TDD principle with adaptive switching point between uplink and downlink, TD-SCDMA can perfectly handle symmetric as well as asymmetric traffic perfectly.

Online essay help on TD-SCDMA

Wireless Multi Media requires high data rates. TD-SCDMA offers sufficient bandwidth to handle the data traffic for future multimedia and Internet applications. TD-SCDMA is therefore optimally suited for mobile Internet and multimedia applications.

TD-SCDMA offers a smooth and seamless way of introducing G mobile networks and services. When TD-SCDMA base-stations are connected to an existing GSM system, the existing transmission links may be reused. The spectral efficiency of TD-SCDMA radio systems is to 5 times higher than that of GSM. Together with the flexibility for symmetric as well as asymmetric services and flexible data rates each single carrier is used very efficiently. This allows high traffic densities within each cell or a lower number of larger cells (when the traffic density is lower).

Combining a G air interface with a stable and established GSM infrastructure shortens time to market for G services. This speeds up implementation of new user applications and quickly makes mobile Internet a reality. With TD-SCDMA it is possible for operators to increase the capacity of existing GSM networks gradually with respect to user numbers and data throughput. At the same time the new radio components fit seamlessly into existing network operation and maintenance strategies.

Please note that this sample paper on TD-SCDMA is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on TD-SCDMA, we are here to assist you. Your persuasive essay on TD-SCDMA will be written from scratch, so you do not have to worry about its originality. Maycomb County, AL 18675

Dear Judges,

College papers on What my father means to me

My name is Jean Louise Finch, but people around the town call me Scout. I hear that

your paper is having a Father of the Year Contest. You say you want to know who the father of the year is of our town, well thats simple my pa Mr. Atticus Finch is the only man who can

hold that title.

My daddy, Mr. Atticus Finch is the calmest person I know. I remember one time when I

was having problems with my teacher, Miss Caroline Fisher. She was upset that I already knew

how to read, and she demanded that my father stopped teaching me. I was so upset that I decided

to drop out of school, and when I told Atticus about my decision, he didnt flip out, he was very

calm, and talked me into changing my mind. Another incident was when a lynch mob went

downto the jail to get Tom Robinson, and when they got there, Atticus was sitting in his chair

reading his newspaper in front of the jail house. They told Atticus to move out the way, he kindly

got up out his chair folded his newspaper and said I think you all should go home. He was also

calm when Mr. Bob Ewell spat in his face, cause he had taken Tom Robinsons case and defended

him well in court. My daddy didnt spit back, punch or kick Mr. Ewell, he just walked away and

said, I wish Bob Ewell wouldnt chew tobacco.

My daddy is the nicest man in Maycomb County. He always had nice words to say to

people. He did kind things for everyone. My daddy Atticus Finch respected everyone, and

treated everyone the way he wanted to be treated. For example when ever me and my brother

would pass Mrs. Duboses house going to town, she would always make smart remarks toward

us, saying that I should wear a dress or, that its a shame that our father hadnt remarried and

found someone to take care of us. She would also call my daddy a nigger lover. This upset my

brother Jem and I. My daddy had sensed that it did and he said Easy does it son. Shes an old

lady and shes ill. You just got to hold your head up high and be a gentleman. One afternoon

when we walked by her house, Atticus sweep of his hat, waved gallantly to her and said, Good

evening, Mrs. Dubose! You look like a picture today. He then told her the courthouse news and

said he hoped with all his heart that she would have a good day tomorrow. My daddy would say

all those nice things to her knowing she doesnt speak so kindly of him. Now if that was me, I

wouldnt have been so nice. I would have her told. Wouldnt you?

The thing that really suprises me about my daddy is hes not stuch up on being rich. Whe

ever he represents someone who cant pay him he just tells them not to worry about it. Like when

my daddy defended Mr. Cunningham and won, but Mr. Cunningham couldnt repay my daddy

with cash, so Atticus let him pay with harvest, fruits and vegetables. There arent many people I

know who would allow him to do that. So this is what makes my daddy Father of the Year, please nominate him.

Yours Truely,

The helicopter was not shot down, the statement said.

The precise cause of the crash is under investigation.

The last helicopter crash in Afghanistan was Jan. 0, when an Army Black Hawk helicopter the Armys version of the Pave Hawk on a training mission crashed near the Bagram air base, killing four.

The Central Command statement did not say whether the medical emergency was in connection with Operation Valiant Strike, a mission involving members of the Armys 8nd Airborne Division in southeastern Afghanistan.

That mission, which began earlier this month, is meant to root out remnants of the al-Qaida and Taliban believed to be operating in the area.

Napoleon was one of the greatest military leaders of all time. By 181 Napoleon had expanded the territory of France all over Europe including Spain, Italy, Holland, and Switzerland. Napoleon was one of the first leaders to rule over so many territories at the same time, which in France made him and innovator and a hero.

In the time when Napoleon ruled France the people were under strict rule. Napoleon took the rights of the common people seriously. By conquering the monarchies he expanded rights throughout Europe. People under the rule of Napoleon were willing to give up everything for there leader. Bonaparte instilled an extreme feeling of nationalism in his people. However, Napoleon lost 40,000 troops trying to defeat Russia. Badly weakened by the loss, the mass movement for freedom was defeated at Waterloo. After this loss of men the people of France were no longer willing to go into battle and die for there country and they no longer had such a great feeling of nationalism.

In modern society the feeling of nationalism is also great, The people of America are also willing to go to war and die for there country. Napoleon was one of the first leaders to have the idea of nationalism. Although Napoleon was a very good leader he dictated to his people more than he let them have freedoms, unlike in America where our leaders allow us to say what we think and feel. Americans in modern society are also able to have a say in how they are ruled by being able to vote for who rules over us. The people of France did not chose Napoleon as leader he took the throne of France, which at first seemed really good for France until he started taking over other countries and starting wars. After he began taking over most of Europe his ego became to big and that's when he started to be more forceful and started to dictate over his people.

Today in America we have three government branches that work together to rule over America and make the laws. Napoleon took over France in 17 and made the legislature dissolve. He also abolished the Directory, which was one of the best parts of the government in France at that time. Napoleon wanted to do everything himself and make all of the decisions. It is true that a dominating ruler is a bad thing, but if people allow themselves to be dominated aren't they just as bad? Bonaparte dictated over his people for a very long time, but the people did not fight back, until major war broke out. The people of France allowed themselves to be dominated until there safety was threatened then they began to fight back and win back the freedom to have a say in how there government is run. The people of any country should not allow themselves to be completely dominated by there government, they should be apart of it and have a say in how they are ruled even if it means fighting for it.

In A Nietzsche Reader, Nietzsche's views on morality are outlined. Although his ideas are bold and pointed, they also are at times contradictory. Many of his concepts and arguments are more thought provoking than practical. It would be a difficult task to maintain a strong set of ethics, while at the same time be a true follower of Nietzsche. Not only would it be difficult because of the wide variation in the way he defines morality, but it would also be difficult to find the median between the propositions he requires one to adhere to. However it does seem that there possibility of reaching

When Nietzsche first defines morality, he states "Morality is nothing other than obedience to customs." (pg. 87) These customs are formed from tradition which is "A higher authority which one obeys, not because it is useful but because it commands." (pg. 87) However Nietzsche acknowledge that laws which do not make sense should not be law, as they cause more trouble then they would impede. Essentially, when one abides by the law which one is command to, they are furthering the good of the community, but not necessarily themselves.

Nietzsche believes that following the law is part of morality. In fact, he states that one's conscience is just, "The voice of laws." (pg. 85) The conscience is what tells one what is right and wrong. As long as the reasons behind the laws are good, then those laws should be followed. It would be immoral not to follow those laws. However, a successful crime which breaks the law is, in fact, moral. The idea is that the "crime" will be realized as right and then define the new law of the community.

Morality is also defined as "The herd instinct of the individual" (pg.10). This herd instinct is very similar to the concept of the good for the community. One must not look out for one's self interest exclusively, but instead look out for the greater good for the community. With the concept of the herd instinct and following what is commanded, morality is taken out of the hands of the individual and instead controlled by society. Since "Free-doers are at a disadvantage compared with freethinkers because people suffer more obviously from the consequences of deeds than from those of thoughts" (pg. 1), those who act free from the bounds of society are likely to be punished. So those who commit what they believe to be a moral action, are punished.

The major difficulty with maintaining a strong set of ethics, and being a follower of Nietzsche comes when one's moral beliefs differ with what is commanded by society. It is not often the case that one bases their morality entirely off what is commanded to them, there will always be discrepancies between the law and one's personal ethics. The way Nietzsche suggests one must remedy this situation is not by committing acts of crime alone, but successful ones. After this, one's personal moral beliefs will become the law ideally. This method for morality is unpractical and only allows individual thought to those who are able to commit successful crimes, or in other words the elite.

Characteristics of Cheating Spouses

Cheap writing services for cheating spouse (classification) papers

What are the characteristics of a cheating spouse? In addition, what are the mistakes a cheating spouse commit? Cheating in the Webster dictionary is the act of deceiving. Specifically, cheating spouses fall into four categories the spouse that gets caught but blames it on the other spouse, the spouse that tells the their spouse that they are cheating and expects the other spouse to be okay with the situation, the spouse that stays out all night and comes home with hickies on his/her neck, and finally the spouse that is messing around with someone in the office. All of the cheaters end up getting caught one way or another.

The first category is the spouse that gets caught but blames his/her discretions on the other spouse. This is a classic thought it is not the spouses' fault you made the spouse cheat. The spouse does not want to feel fully responsible for his/her actions, so he/she will give as to hundred and one reasons or excuses on why he/she cheated, so he/she can make the other spouse feel bad and want to take them back.

The Second category, is the spouse that tells their spouse that they are cheating and expects the other spouse to be okay with the situation. He/ she has an arrogant demeanor about his/her self. The spouse feels the other person in the relationship is lucky to be in the relationship. He/she knows the person would not leave the relationship because the spouse knows that their spouse could not find anyone better, so the spouse continues to cheat.

The third category is the spouse that stays out all night and comes home with hickies on his/her neck; smelling like the other person's scent, and tries not to acknowledge that it is there or does not know where it came from. The spouse is obviously too dumb for the spouse own good or just likes to live on the streets.

Final category is, the spouse that is messing around with someone in the office. This is one of the hardest ones to detect, because he/she spends most of their face time with the spouse and the family. The spouse always work a lot of hours, takes really long lunches and a lot of out of state business trips with an opposite sex co-worker. To a spouse, this would look as if their spouse is working hard to make ends meet, but if you look closely, this person is working hard, but not at what we would expect him/her to be doing during work hours.

Not every cheating spouse falls under these categories, but cheating spouses always find new ways to trick their spouses.

All of the spouses in these categories eventually are caught, but there are a few that slip through the cracks. Cheating never makes sense and it always ends up hurting the other spouse. If there is any problems in the marriage, a spouse's need to inform the other spouse and him/her should sit down and make a joint decision if they want to leave or continue with the relationship.
