jobs always looked down at people with less money and discriminate against them just

because of what kind of job they had. In Europe people were more friendly towards each

other because they weren't threatened that someone might try to take their job. In

America people are always trying to get higher jobs no matter what they had to go through

to achieve a higher job then what they had previous.

Since James Baldwin's life, America has changed for the better. Today there isn't

as big of a race problem as there was back then. When Baldwin was alive, the country was just

at the end of slavery. White Americans thought that African Americans where at a lower

level then themselves because they didn't get the opportunity to be as educated as whites.
